Laura Horwith, UNICEF Tap Project City Coordinator

Laura was first introduced to UNICEF through her company’s partnership with the organization, where she had the opportunity to visit Cambodia on a field visit and see her company’s efforts first hand. During her trip, she came across the water facilities available to communities and was appalled by what she saw.  However, where UNICEF wells had already been built, it was clear to see how UNICEF was making a real difference, one well at a time. "We spent some time there learning about UNICEF's clean water initiatives, so it's exciting to now be involved with UNICEF Tap Project in Chicago, supporting the global mission, providing clean drinking water to those who need it." says, Laura.

Returning back to Chicago, she reached out to UNICEF with the desire to volunteer outside of her company's intermediate and came across the UNICEF Tap Project City Coordinator position. She immediately applied to be a Chicago City Coordinator, taking a lead role in volunteer recruitment and management, event planning and fundraising, and restaurant outreach and support.

As a City Coordinator, Laura has proven herself as a highly motivated team player and supporter who is always willing to assist volunteers in their efforts to recruit restaurants and host events. She is looking forward to the 2010 UNICEF Tap Project campaign, especially the launch event they are hosting on March 19th at Sunda and The Underground. Click here for more information.
