This past spring, Guillermo Saade of Woodlands, Texas, took a personal leadership seminar course encouraging students to create community projects. Guillermo—a Big Brother and donor of UNICEF—found a way to involve his friends and family in an effort to benefit UNICEF’s work. He decided to sell tickets for an all-you-can-eat dinner at PawPaw, a Persian restaurant that offered to donate part of its profits to the event. The evening’s entertainment included Middle Eastern belly-dancing, Nicaraguan folkloric dancing and traditional Mexican singing. 134 people attended the event, and the benefit dinner proved to be a great success, raising $1,800 for the UNICEF General Fund. Guillermo publicized the event with printed flyers and email, which he sent to everyone in his address book. Friends who were not able to attend also donated money in support of the event. Thanks, Guillermo!
