| ACTIVITIES FOR JANUARY |
Theme 1 : Education; Gender Equality |
Education is a fundamental human right every child is entitled to it, however, a great number of children don’t have access to this basic right. Education is critical to our development as individuals and as societies, and it helps pave the way to a successful and productive future. When we ensure that children have access to a rights-based, quality education that is rooted in gender equality, we create a ripple effect of opportunity that impacts generations to come.

Take Action
Plan a screening of To Educate a Girl to inspire others to promote education for all. In 2010, filmmakers Frederick Rendina and Oren Rudavsky traveled to Nepal and Uganda, two countries emerging from conflict and struggling with poverty, to find the answer to one question: What does it take to educate a girl? Framed by the United Nations global initiative to provide equal access to education for girls by 2015, To Educate a Girl takes a ground-up and visually stunning view of that effort through the eyes of girls out of school, starting school or fighting against the odds to stay in school.
After watching the film, as a club you may wish to host a fundraiser and purchase UNICEF's most innovative inspired gift - 'School-in-a-Box Kit' – (The box contains books, pencils, erasers and scissors and even a radio, while the aluminum lid of the box doubles as a blackboard.).
