“Locals know their own problems better than outsiders.” Dr. Abdel Ahad head of Gozarah Hospital (Afghanistan), the district center for community health workers.
What do you know about your community? For this month’s activity conduct a service project and consider what a community is. Once having learned about community health programs such as in Egypt, Niger and Afghanistan. Promote child survival and development by proposing a spectrum of health services for young children and families in an ideal community. Finally use the Child Survival Lesson Plan to create a map of your ideal community, showing the location of the services and why they are important. Then try to imagine how it would be not to have access to all these services in your community. Discuss what you have learned and how your club can make an impact on child survival.
